Born in Cagnes-sur-mer in France in 1973, Myriam Chirousse studied humanities and philosophy at Nice University. She later moved to Paris where she studied Chinese for three years at the Institut des Langues’O while writing her first children’s stories and publishing news items for French magazines (Bayard Presse, Milan Presse, Emap).
In search of warmer climes and enjoyment, she left Paris in 2000 and settled in Spain. After a few casual jobs, she worked as a French teacher for Alliance Française in Madrid. At the same time she kept up her writing (news items, features and stories for teenagers) besides earning a diploma as a bilingual translator.
A full-time translator since 2004, she penned the French translation of the novel Historia del Rey Transparente by Spanish author Rosa Montero, published in 2008 by Editions Métailié. This translation won of the "Prix Pierre-François Caillé de traduction", 2008.
Her first novel, Miel et vin (Buchet-Chastel, May 2009) won the Grand Prix Littéraire du Salon de Villepreux in October 2009. It has been published in Spain (Alfaguara) in October 2009.
Back to her native Provence in 2009, Myriam Chirousse is currently working on her second novel and a collection of stories for teenagers.
